Oil on camvas board - 18in x 14in - This was a tricky one - getting the right skin colour & tone for an afro-carribbean subject was not easy - made lots of mistakes to start with - still not too sure about it in certain light conditions. Painted about 6 months ago from a photo of someone I used to coach in athletics many years ago (she's now in her 30s - was about 17 at the time of the photo) Almost a reversal of Vermeer's "Girl in the Pear Ear-ring - Love the old masters - inspirational - would aspire to that type of work - reckon I'm halfway there - have achieved the "old" bit - aspiring to the other bit is very, very doubtful though!!!
