I like all your paintings - you have a certain style. They are all interesting. This one made me smile, even the dogs are waiting in earnest. Excellent.

I take photos when in France - lots of characters in different locations - then I try to compose a picture using these people when I can - the characters in this one were from all over Normandy & Brittany in all sorts of situations - arranged & sized to fit the scene - the dogs actually live in Yorkshire but nobody told them they were going to France!!!

Very Clever Trever! You do make me smile.

Had to turn some of them from right to left & vice versa - forgot to correct their clothing when doing it - chap on left in blue jacket fastens it in the ladies way - as does the spectator in the green/beige cardigan - oh well - it's the thought that counts!!!

Thanks Trevor for your comment on my work. I have had a look at your portfolio and do like all the pictures. This one caught my attention since that it is a typically a very French scenery. You got the people so very well and of course the doggies...

Being a huge fan of the Tour de France I have to say that this captures the mood of the older generation perfectly. Skillfully prepared and beautifully executed.

Here it comes - a small town in Brittany comes to a halt as the Tour de France makes its appearance - in a flash of colour & chrome it will disappear as quickly as it arrived. Alkyd oil on board - 20in x 16in. I used about 10 photos as a reference to compose this - photos taken in various parts of France - mostly on markets - trawled through them until I had all of the characters I wanted - re-sized then & shuffled then around to get the grouping I wanted. The two dogs however live in Yorkshire - near Huddersfield - sneaked over on the ferry I guess to get a glimpse of "Le Tour"
