Love the moon and cloud effect. Can almost see those wings moving, lovely Paul.

Love the clouds scudding across the moon. Full of atmosphere and drama, and as ever, well painted, Paul.

Having a horribly literal mind, I wonder if eagles fly by night .... sorry about that; too much logic, not enough emotion. It's very well painted, as your paintings always are - and has impact. I would probably have been happier with an owl, but suspect that's my problem more than yours!

Hi Robert thank you for the great comments, much appreciated :). When I painted this scene from photograph I was unaware that it was a 2 in 1 photograph with the eagle being super imposed. So in what you say you are correct in theory lol. However I have seen many day birds in night time flight from being disturbed by one thing or another so it is not impossible to think that an eagle can take flight at night if disturbed or any other day time bird for that matter. No problem here, more of artistic license lol.
