Paul, can get a really close up look at it on here. I'm so impressed, how on earth did you get the detail on his hide so accurate. The long eyelashes are so appealing. Great painting.

Hi Carole and thank you very much. I agree it is a better view here :) It was completed with many single brush strokes of layered paint. Laborious work but well worth the effort and bad neck lol.

Paul - I have a lot of trouble seeing this, because I'm a "high myope"! (The Lord High Myope...) ie, I'm very short-sighted, and I just get lost in the detail - I really can't see much of the it, because it gets lost in the bigger picture: and if I can see that, I can't see the detail...... Enough of my medical problems, but you might find it useful in some way - to me, this is confusing: lines just swim in front of me. I can't therefore usefully comment, but maybe all artists should remember that they might have to take such things into account if they want universal acclaim........

you see, there we go again - "the it"; just delete the "the".... oh dear. I'm really coming across as quite broken down and pathetic, aren't I? I'm not as young as I was, you know.... is it time for my tablets and cocoa? Where's my commode......Are you my son?

Sorry to hear that you are suffering high myopia Robert! I'm not sure about the universal acclaim lol but I have to (as all artists do ) paint to their own vision capabilities. Well 1 out of how many isn't bad :). Take it easy mate and have a good one :)

Just "stubbled" across this, and I love it. It's very striking. Superb brush work. I'm a fan of Roberts work, and normally agree with his comments - but this time he got it wrong. This beatiful.
