Does the wife know you're using her teaspoons? Certainly an atmospheric painting - what's wrong with a painting knife, though? You can get 'em in all sorts of shapes now - always used to be an elongated triangle donkey's years ago, when I got mine.

I'm quite impressed and all for using teaspoons or whatever one can find. I use palette knives, wooden spoons, forks, matches, credit cards ( old ones! ), the long wooden sticks that you get with your tea in cafes and all kinds of things. As you say Paul it liberates and gives you a feeling of freedom. Well done, I like it.

Never thought of this for a painting tool Paul, very innovative. A lovely painting too.

Shh Robert she doesn't know yet,, LOL. I have just about very shape of palette there is in my studio but that would not be a experiment lol. I wanted to use something different and work differently with application and techniques hence the teaspoon! I was very surprised at the detail the paint created as I added globs of paint on the spoon and mixed them on the paper surface. I will use spoons again :) Thanks for the comments Robert, much appreciated.

Thank you very much Satu it was really enjoyable. I can see why you use these different tools. You really do work with the paint in a different way using spoons :) Thanks for your comments.

Hi Carole good to see you online again ;-) Thank you very much for your comments!

Well done Paul, this is amazing. I'm just coming to terms with using a palette knife and i enjoyed that. Think you have made a more impressionistic painting here. Hope you do another with the teaspoon,or will you move up to a tablespoon? It would be great to see you introduce more colour?

Hi Stephen good to catch you online. Thanks very much for your comments/feedback it is much appreciated. I will try a few more yet with various spoons and colours. Just thought I would do a few tonal studies first to get a better feel of application and effect. Thanks again Stephen :)

That's excellent. I was looking forward with some trepidation to seeing a painting of a teaspoon, wondering how interesting such a thing could possibly be, and was relieved to find it a painting done WITH a teaspoon instead. I've very tempted to try this myself.

Thank you very much Catherine for the great comments : ) Have a go try a painting with a teaspoon its great fun. I did this as an application and tonal study before trying a colour work. Afon Llugwy was also painted with a teaspoon : )

I have been experimenting with painting tools. This one is painted with a teaspoon 35 x 25 cm with Liquitex acrylics. I found working with a teaspoon helped me not have much control and the paint was mixed directly on the support. This enabled me to get a free flowing impressionistic work ( in my opinion ) as I am usually a stickler for high detail! Some good points in this was freedom of painting application, no cleaning of brushes or water used. No wasted paint, even though the applications are thicker than normal. No clean up time. It took me 40 minutes to paint from a blank page.
