Wonderful blend of colours which suggests heathers, bracken and grasses. I think the road is a good compositional (is there such a word?) decision. The only thing that strikes me is perhaps I might have been tempted to just put a faint touch of the foreground colours into the background hills just to unite the painting just a tad more, although I understand that your purpose of fading the distant mountains out was to show recession. Hope you don't mind me mentioning this - of course it is only my take on it and you may have wanted the painting to say something else and if so, ignore me!

This is a beautiful painting. I love the misty morning effect that you've achieved here with such lovely colour. I'm afraid that I disagree with Thea (sorry Thea!) I like the way that the painting is composed of four horizontal sections. I wondered what size it is?

Love the subject. Very clever washes of merging colour with great recession. I see what Thea is sayng, but I think there are hills and dales which obscure views.

I stand corrected as last night I was viewing this painting on my laptop, which I don't normally do as it doesn't have such a well colour calibrated screen as my P.C. and it bleached the colours out in the top section of this painting. Now that I see it on my P.C. screen I can see that Paul has, indeed subtly suggested the foreground colours in the distant hills. I can also see what Louise means about the horizontal sections and she is the one to listen to as she has such a good sense of design. Moral - don't view the gallery on your laptop Thea!! Sorry Paul - totally inaccurate critique - have slapped my own wrist.

Thank you Thea, Louise and Carole for your kind words and Thea, no need to slap your wrist, I always appreciate constructive comments on my work. The size of the painting is 9 x 16 Inch.

Thank you too Kirstie!

Love your painting of the moors Paul, lots of atmophere and misty recession.

Thanks Fiona, I appreciate your kind words.

this caught my eye immediately for the lovely misty atmosphere & the sense of distance. I love the horizontal banding.

Thanks Jenny, I find the Two Rivers paper really helps with those soft misty conditions.
