I think this is a marvellous painting and it definitely has atmosphere. The muted palette is indeed subtle and the flecks of light on the sea's surface work very well. I wondered if there could be a few light spots on the right, and the lighthouse looks like it might fall over, although judging by the angle it's good for a few more years yet. Was the lean deliberate? Great painting Brian

Janet Webb sent in her Turner-inspired painting saying: 'My painting was based on a photo taken before visiting the Turner Art Gallery in Margate on a rainy misty morning. I was fascinated by the light on the water, the subtle changes in colour and the rain in the distance obscuring the view. It illustrated to me how Turner might have been inspired into capturing the ever changing dramatic moods of the weather'
