Marie McAlister sent in her version of Paul's September challenge saying: 'I painted this by laying pale background washes first using cobalt blue for the sky and water and distant fields then raw sienna for the middle ground with some touches of burnt sienna. Working from the background forwards the trees and fields were added in using mixes of cobalt blue, raw sienna and darks with a touch of burnt sienna mixed in. Highlights on the water were lifted out and the background was misted slightly by spraying with water and lifting some colour out and softening edges'
