This is very good Marie, nice balance between the loose work on the land and the more detailed, man made features.

Hi. Actually this is my painting!, somehow it's got Marie's name on it!,, Helen Rendell

Hi Helen, Your image is shown just before this one by Marie. I did crop yours out of the mount to improve the view in the gallery, but I have checked and this one is definitely Marie's!

Hi. Yes I realised almost immediately that this was Marie's work. I have a apologised to her !

This is really nice Marie, the contrast in tones has made a very good painting. I haven't yet had a go at this one, as I struggled to see a point of interest in the photo, but you have succeeded in painting a gem...well done!

Great version of this challenge 4. I was so at a loss as to what could be done with Paul's photo that I didn't attempt it. You've shown me what could have been tried..well done.

Marie MacAlister sent in her version of Paul's August challenge saying: 'I applied a dilute background wash of the basic colours using cerulean for the sky, raw sienna for the ground with a touch of sap green added to the foreground. I then dropped some ultramarine into the shadow areas. I allowed this all to dry before working from the back of the picture to the front re-wetting areas as required to allow me to work wet in wet for the side of the wall and the vegetation. Burnt sienna and ultramarine were used for the dark areas with touches of violet in the road and shadow of the wall and I lifted out some areas in the shaded side of the wall and dropped in a touch of cerulean to add some colour. The white lines on the road and fence posts were applied with a rigger and white gouache.'
