Germaine De Luca sent in this version of Paul's summer challenge saying: 'After reading Colour verses neutral, I have to say I had a light bulb moment. As a self taught artist I struggle with color and value. However, this article has opened up a whole new door for me as I now understand the concept of neutral colors. Thank you Paul!! I used ultramarine blue and burnt sienna as my grey and I laid in my darks with this mix and added a little cad yellow. I added Viridian to the mix to lay in some mid tone greens and added titanium white to get the mountain colors with a touch of alizarin. Then I decided to put the sky in by mixing ultramarine blue, titanium white, and touch of alizarin. After the sky was in I focused on my light areas, mixing ultramarine, cad yellow and titanium white. For a little texture I added some yellow ochre. Finished off with palette knife for grass texture and sun highlights. Added a greyed blue to the grass in the foreground to tie in the sky and scr
