Sally Casebow sent in her version of Paul's January challenge saying: 'This is a watercolour painting from the photograph provided in the january edition of the Artist. I have painted in a class and on my own for a few years now and am particularly interested in landscape as I live in Devon so have amazing opportunities for subject matter on my doorstep. I have admired the work of this artist in your magazine for sometime and I was drawn to this photo challenge as I struggle with painting walls, in particular making them appear solid. I chose warmer colours for the wall to connect with the overall colours used in the rest of the painting and to work with a limited palette in order to keep the colours fresh. I felt, at the end, that the wire across the wall helped with the overall composition and again solidified the feeling of the wall.'
