David Collins sent in his version of Paul's exercise saying: 'I used a piece of mount board (30 cm by 30 cm) prepared with diluted cadmium red. I used short flat brushes, sizes 1 inch and half inch and a rigger. Paints were all Galeria - cobalt blue, prussian blue, cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, cadmium red and white. I began with the sky area applying pure white and then adding a little cadmium blue. The foreground was a mix of prussian blue and cadmium yellow plus a touch of cadmium red. These colours were blended\scumbled directly on the board not mixed in a palette. Cadmium yellow with white was then rubbed on with a palette knife to give the lighter areas. The stone wall was a yellow ochre, blue and red mix.The trees were added with the rigger'
