Sue Farrant sent in her version of Paul's challenge saying: 'When reading January's copy of 'The Artist' I decided to take up the challenge to paint the photograph of sunshine and snow. I began painting when I retired so am very much an amateur painter and so often when I do have time to paint there are so many things I would like to try but I procrastinate over choosing a subject and style (I have many ideas). Because of this, instead of doing something I end up doing nothing. This is why I was so motivated to take up this challenge. On completing it I could see other things I could have done but decided to leave well alone. I roughly sketched the scene to indicate my chosen composition deciding to move the trees slightly and indicate footprints moving further into the field. I then I shaded the sketch to indicate the various tones. My chosen colours were tested on the sketch being mindful of light against dark and cool against warm. Cobalt blue for the sky fad
