PTG Exercise 5 - Shoreline
Jane Young sent in her version of the shoreline exercise saying: 'I applied Alizarin red and Cadmium Yellow, well watered down, using a 1 ½ flat brush, moving it freely in all directions. I hoped this would add warm colour to the pebbles, as well as suggesting sand beneath the pebbles and the grass. To describe the pebbles I used thicker paint, applied in swirls with a round brush, using mixtures based on Burnt Sienna. I treated the grass in a similar way dabbing roughly to give texture and contrast with the smoothness of the sky and building.'
