PTG Exercise 3 - Moorland View
Jane Clark sent in her version of Paul's exercise saying: 'I run a small art club in rural Herefordshire. I used acrylic on mountboard and accomplished this in about an hour and a half including time for the undercoat to dry. I rough brushed an undercoat of ultramarine, burnt umber and naples yellow then marked out the main shapes with watery white and a small brush. The sky was softened by using my fingers in a swirling motion. The paint caught in the underlying texture (you can't see it in the photo).I then proceeded using a variety of colours, brushes, credit cards, strips of card and finally I sprayed the foreground with water and shaved artbars to give more interest. I could have gone back and adjusted areas but the liveliness would have disappeared.'
