PTG Exercise 1 - Field Textures
Alan Bickley sent in his version of Paul's challenge, which he complted on 24 x 30 cm canvas, saying: 'Paul's photograph was a fairly low key and flat image, but on closer inspection I saw that there was a large farm building on the horizon plus another two smaller buildings. My decision was to place the larger building plumb centre in the composition, something I would normally avoid, and this became my focal point. I used the acrylic fairly heavily ,particularly on the middle distance and foreground, the dried poppies being quite raised and textured, which I found added life and interest to the work. Paul's examples of his work were very interesting and useful, albeit a bit on the small side for my style of work, I can only paint large format, so altogether a super little challenge and I may well have another go at it before long, perhaps as a semi-abstract'
