I've just completed something similar. Don't alter painting - colours look ok - Victorian clothing was very bright. I like the group on the left - the colours mimic the buildings colours.

I think you have interpreted the photo into a lovely painting. Colours chosen are great too so I wouldn't change a thing in it.

Oil Sketch from an old sepia photo, some of the colours are probably too bright but it might be worth another try one day. Note the interesting external shop window lights hanging from long poles outside the shop on the left.
