Pears

Beautiful luscious pears extremely well painted. I can almost feel them and smell them but I feel the background colour doesn't quite do them justice.

I feel i want to sink my teeth into them. But like Diana i would have done a paler background. But a very good painting.

Beautiful Nora. The painting caught my eye immediately. Is it watermixable oil? I use them all the time as well as Alkyd. I find the watermixables brighter than Alkyd though. But alkyd dries much quicker. Scrumptious! PS I have the rubber and brush shapers but forgot about them!

Those pears look delicious to eat! I like the background but would fade the dark area into the lighter area, if you understand what I mean. Otherwise the pears and the leaves are great.

Hi Nora, I have to disagree with the above comments! I'm meaning the comments on the background colours of course, not the painting in general. I like the way you have depicted the background, to me it makes the pears stand out more, especially the left hand one. Concur with the rest of the comments, a beautiful painting, the pears look good enough to eat.

Thank you everybody for the help. I had to darken the background around the pears to make them stand out, like Val says. And using the complementary color maybe I added too much contrast? Some times I go for the drama more than I should? Thank you again for the feedback, it is really important to me. Jeannette, these were regular oils, it was done before my discovery, :)
