Recently finished this backdrop painting for a stage; it's about 20 foot by 10 foot in size. Some interesting notes: Technically, the shading on the trees is too dark for their distance, however from the back of the theatre the shading dulls to give the correct effect! In addition, note the artificial 'closing' of tjhe balustrade on the right-hand side. I measured the columns equidistantly to start with, but the perspective of the grass behind created a kind of optical illusion which made the columns look as if they were getting further apart, so the RHS was an experiment in artificially increasing the ratio of closeness to compensate. Overcompensated in the end, but an interesting point learned.
