Apprehension by Neal McDannel

Apprehension
Comments

I think this is a fabulous portrait, Neal. Just going to have a look at your other work.

Agreed, super capturing of apprehension in his face and stance, you have achieved exactly what you set out to achieve, but then you were always going to as a quick glance back at you gallery reminds us of exactly who you are and how much talent with pastel portraits you have!

Brilliant work, really conveys the emotion

Thank you all for ALL your positive feedback. Not to take anything away from the rest of the kind words but I recognize Ros P's name in a lot of comments about my work. Ros, you say the nicest things. I don't know what I would like more, for me to adopt you or you to adopt me. I couldn't ask for better support. Again thank you to EVERYONE!

Hehe Neal, the reason I love your work so much is that I use hardly anything but pastel myself, I know exactly how much effort goes into working at the level that you do, I can empathise with you when you reveal you can take 2 months to do a portrait as you have revealed previously, whenever you post a new portrait I love to dive in and increase its size as much as possible so that I can see as far as possible the pastel strokes you have used, you must get so much satisfaction from being able to achieve work as good as this, on the other hand you probably, just like the rest of us, look at your finished work and see things that could have been better! Such is the human psyche !

Excellent portrait. Wonderful setting to display this emotion. Wish I had thought of it. I too enjoy doing pastel portraits. Love the medium for portraits. Jean x

A work to be very proud of. Excellent lighting in the piece and great depth - both in the physical rendering and in the emotional content. Thank-you for sharing it with us.
