Ideal and accomplished use of the medium, my eye attracted always to musical subjects.Smashing Philip

Thank you Derek. Difficult to achieve the immediacy of the action while representing the characters fairly faithfully, so your comments appreciated.

Lovely. I just went to a super jazz afternoon in a pub near me, and met someone who paints musicians in action. Showed his book of on the spot paintings. This is very good. Your faces and figures are brilliant.

PS I like your palette. Nice and fresh, and isn't it great how three primaries cab do it all?

What was the pub Shirley, and do you know the artist's name? I have quite a bit of jazz themed pieces in my portfolio.

Hi Philip, It was the Albion pub in Church Road in Hove. Monday and Thursday afternoons. The artist was Martin Wertheim-Gould ("Salmond"). Sounds exotic I know! I go there now after an hour singing in a choir nearby. It is really good, with lots of different very clever musicians.

This has subsequently sold at Titchfield Art and Craft Show, 2017
