I do like your paintings, Midori. They have such a wonderful immediacy and looseness and the colours you chose are always so descriptive. Can I ask if any artist has influenced you in your work, or if you have had any art training at all?

Hi Midori, Wouldn't know where to start a painting like this, certainly interested with the answer to Thea's question, lovely work.

I too enjoy all your work Midori. Always a little bit quirky and completely original with wonderful colours and washes

Delicious washes Midori and beautiful colours.

Beautiful blend of colours Midori, you get it right every time!

Beautifully done, Midori! I love the little slivers of light which you reserve. The really add so much vibrancy to your paintings.

Hi Gudrun, Beverly, Fiona, Carole and Seok, thank you so much for giving me the warm words. I'm always receiving lots of energies from all od you to look for why watercoloru is so interesting medium.

Hi Thea and Peter, thank you for asking. I bought a lots of books. Maybe I started copying books around 5 years ago. Alex Powers, Trevor Waugh, David R Becker,,,,,,so many books. Maybe I might be influenced by children's books as well. Especially I love these 3 books. When my daughter was tiny, we used to buy lots of picture books, and now she is 12 years old. So regularly we did a garage sale and clean up her book selves, but I didn't sell some books. "Owen and the Mountain", Malachy Doyle and Giles Greenfield, “The Copper tin cup”, Carole Lexa Schaefer and Stan Fellows, ''The Princess and the Castle"', Caroline Binch. These storis are great, but painting are outstandingly gorgeous. And then I took some watercolour lessons this summer in Japan, Artist Kanta Harusaki and wife Yoko. http://harusuisai.exblog.jp/ Their style is different from me, but their works make me awake. What he showed me was "'break a rule”. “look for unwritten rule which is not in guide books of watercolour." And the very last important word must be "painting the air". If a red rose on the table, around the rose, the air will turn to pink and red. It would say ‘read the air''," feel the air". Watercolour is really, really interesting medium. Everything on my dining table randomly so whenever I have a free time I can start to paint something. I have a dream, I would be able to read the air and paint the air some day. How and when? I don't know. That's why I have to keep on painting towards the golden day. Thank you for having curiosity for my works and reading awful English. Happy painting! Midori
