What a fabulous name and a fabulous drawing. been to Ambleside many times but never seen this.

Thanks very much for the nice comment. I've just joined the site tonight and these are my first pictures in the gallery. The Giggling Goose cafe is on the right hand side, set back from the main road on the way out of Ambleside, travelling towards Grassington, before the small roundabout which leads up towards 'the Struggle' and just before the big main car park. Just after the Apple Pie - which is I think a better known eating house. The viewpoint is back towards the main road which crosses the bridge.

I still can't place it but will look when I next go. Thank you so much for your comment on Breaking the Chain of pain; a very personal picture for me. Oh and welcome to the site. You said you couldn't get on with watercolour but the Forge looks as if its' watercolour. If you can do that in pencil you should have no trouble. My watercolours are much more detailed than most. I can't do loose washes. Just plan your lights and mask them or save them and the rest is easy. I've been painting for over 20 years and only just changed all my paints to transparent colours. What a difference it made.

Love the drawing - beautiful

A drawing with a story, makes the viewer wonder why he is alone. A brilliant drawing.

Sorry Mike, meant this comment for 'the odd one out' picture. I actually love them all.

Brilliant drawing Mick - How long did it take to complete? I'm not sure if I would have the patience let alone the ability! I'm still struggling with my cartoons etc. but have thought about trying to do better sketches again.

excellent pictures and I have been to Ambleside many times and have not seen this place so I will be looking out for it next time I go.

Thank youall for the very nice comments - and the advice Diana - very much appreciated. Perhaps I'll try again with true watercolour and well spotted - the Forge is mostly aquarelle pencil work with a little watercolour and brush pen added. As to the 'Goose' I meant this place is on the Grasmere side of Ambleside on the way out. It took quite a while but I like trying to draw drystone work and I get lost in drawing so don't really know how long a drawing actually takes. If you do find the cafe, try the scones - wonderful when just out of the oven and still warm!
