Totally different but fantastic work Michael

I know what you say Michael there is so much to learn through experiment. Lovely composition and colour

Nice work MAichael, looks like snow scene to me, I suppose we all 'see' different things in abstracts.

This reminds me of a snow storm (Might be a good title?) when you have to peer through the swirling flakes to try and make out what is there. Very striking, Michael.

Great job, Michael. Good color balance, good shapes. In terms of genre that should be abstract expressionism, shouldn't it?

Yes snow storm or even Flurry might be a good title - just done three more this morning and will post as soon as I get a moment. Abstract expressionism sounds pretty darn good to me - thanks Ivan

Have tried one but without "a basic composition in mind" as you put it. So can you tell us what was the idea here please? I do find it attractive but am baffled by abstract thinking.

I'm never quite sure about abstract art but I do like the colours and shapes in this, the duck egg blue mount compliments it perfectly and it will look great in a white frame. I would very happily hang it on my wall!

Fantastic piece of art, Michael. Snow is the first thing that comes to mind, though I can see different theme pattern here. I do some abstract work myself, though it doesn't translate well, but yours is really something; good depth and as Christine says, the blue compliments it well. Great work.

Very satisfying to look at. As already stated snow springs to mind. I dont understand abstracts at all but could happily live with this.

Thanks so much all. Derek in answer to your query I have just attempted to answer it in the forum.

Great shape, lovely texture and beautifully balanced colours. Michael, I like it very much and I'm so glad that you are doing abstracts now! It opens new windows to creativity. Well done!

Great thing about abstracts is that they engage an emotional and intellectual response and engagement from the viewer, like all your work posted

Acrylic on mountboard - will be mounted in a white frame 40 by 40 glass size. It's a long time since I did any significant amount of abstracts so decided I would get back into them this year. I just love the freedom of not being constrained by representational work although I do have a basic composition in mind before starting out. First time I've used this sort of pointilism effect and might try to perfect it a bit more as I go along.Tthis one looks better in the 'flesh'.
