This is beautifully portrayed Michael and very meaningful. I find it very hurtful to see or hear any kind of discrimination and find it abhorrent. As always great colours and brushmarks.

Thankyou carole your comment means alot to me. I cant abide watching someone suffer. It breaks my heart in two. Thankfully there is greater acceptance of the gay and lesbian community. I am heterosexual but to me they suffered too long before the hypocrisy some call the church gave these people in love the marriage they deserve.

Now this painting conveys something. Great colours and brush strokes.

Thankyou gudrun. If i conveyed at least a fraction of the plight of this man who represents an entire community, im very satisfied.

Totally agree with everyone here, Michael, and this is a super portrayal of his agony. Stunningly meaning ful.

Thankyou Thalia. I just hope mentally ill people will be accepted one day. I know it is much less of a taboo today than it was years ago. Some of the kindest people ive known i met during my stay in hospital.

I tried to paint this man in great anguish. He wears a red wig. He could be a clown or i think a homosexual would be more fitting. Discrimination of any kind disgusts me. I have faced alot of it because of my mental illness. Quentin crisp came to my mind as i painted this man.

About the Artist
Michael Hanrahan

You're only as good as your last painting as they say. My greatest love is music and I prefer to write classical music for orchestra than paint…
