I remember
This is a portrait of mary magdalene. It was hard because i tried to show conflicting emotions in her face. The memory of the crucifixion. The memory of seeing christ after the resurrection. Such feelings should in theory cancel eachother out but every experience stays with us. When i finished the picture i noticed that mary slightly resembles the actress who played her in the movie ' the passion of the Christ ' . A strange coincidence. I also wanted to capture that air of seductiveness also so i made her quite attractive in a sensual way given that she was a prostitute. All these things were hard to represent in one image.
