Yes definitely influenced by renaissance technique and methods. Thankyou timothy. I love that smokiness which leonardo pioneered. Even though its a very old way i just enjoy trying to emulate it.

Lovely simplicity Michael

This is very serene, Michael.

I agree with Timothy, it is a great portrait with Renaissance feel. Very well done, Michael, you are on a good track.

I really do love portraits, looking at them and ofcourse painting them. Unfortunately painting the human face is my weakness. Im quite good at landscapes but as a portraitist im not very good. However i will continue trying to paint portraits and lets see just how much i improve over the years. I hope its considerable. My favourite portrait artist is rembrandt but ive heard so much about sargent. Personally im not sure what all the fuss is about. Hes a master certainly and deserves his fame but his work just doesnt really do it for me. I much prefer bouguereau. I hope ive spelled that correctly.
