Two trees in the light by Michael Hanrahan

It's a beauty and highly recognisable as one of yours ... glad you found it!

If someone had told me this was a painting by a distinguished past-master of the craft of oil painting, I'd have believed them (and well: perhaps it is - and you are that master, just not yet "past"): I'm very impressed by this - it's brooding, dramatic, and effective.

Fine work Michael. It does have the look of an old master.

I agree with Robert ,my first impression was it looks like an old master, excellent work Michael.

This is superb Michael.

Definitely has a presence

Thankyou for these very nice comments. I suppose it does have that old look. The only reason being I think is that I painted it in many layers over a long period of time. I think it's the glazing that makes it look old masterish and there are more than one glaze. Glazing seems to harmonize and give unity as well as giving it that classical look I think. Very generous of you robert to compare it to an old master and thankyou for that nice comment.

Its been collecting dust for about 6 years and I was working on it on and off for about 3 years. Ive been digging things out of my cupboard last few days and found it. I'd forgotten about it. It has made use of a frame i had which is good.

About the Artist
Michael Hanrahan

I love art but it's very much up and down as I go about my day to day life as a painter and often I really struggle to paint therefore I fall out with it. You're only as good as your last painting as they say. My greatest love is music and I prefer to write classical music for orchestra than paint…
