Fabulous pastel Michelle

Stunning Michelle! Interesting to hear how you used black gouache for the stripes.

Thanks both. Using the black gouache was something I learnt from Jason Morgan - it just keeps a good strong black base on the under-painting where you need such a strong black and you can then just go over this to finish off with a black pastel. It also limits the black contaminating the other colours as you work.

Tiger on pastelmat using a variety of pastels (Rembrandt soft pastels, Conte crayon, derwent pastel pencils and Carbothello) and an initial layer of black gouache underpainting for the stripes to keep them where they should be! Approximately A4 size. Reference photo by Wendy Kedde
