Most unusual Mia but very effective and makes you think what an interesting study a foot can be.

I remember doing a pencil sketch of my foot once.....many years ago, at school. In fact I did a hand as well, for home work! Surprising how difficult it can be.... it was for me, at least. No trouble for you Mia with your super drawing skills. Enjoyed catching up with your recent postings, lovely to see you back, and your beautiful pen work.

Ah, I remember drawing hands as well. I always say to myself that if stuck for subjects to paint, just paint whatever's in front of you. I hadn't thought of feet, always there... Well done, unusual subject and so well drawn. We'll all be looking at our feet now with renewed interest. Perhaps!

What elegant feet you have! Also, what a good idea for the sketch - talk about drawing what is in front of you! Feet, in my experience, look deceptively simple but are actually fiendishly difficult to draw and make them look real. Yours are perfect - so 10 out of 10 on that score.

Good observational drawing Mia and a good exercise for when you feel creative but can't be bothered to get out all the clobber!

Your own feet cannot run away from you...nicely sketched Mia.

Thank you very much Satu, Fiona, Louise, Thea, Christine and Sylvia for your positive comments, I really do appreciate. I also made a sketch of my left hand while holding the sketching paper. I will post that tomorrow.

Like that foot, Mia! And in response to a question you posed on one of my pictures, I'm working on a new challenge - possibly along similar lines to the last one, but we'll see. Keep an eye on the Forum.

I am always looking forward to your comments AND challenges, Robert. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much, Gudrun.

Twinkle toes! Another great idea Mia, I like your pen and wash sketches.

Superb draughtsmanship as usual, Mia! And beautiful lines and tonal work. Beautifully done!

Thanks Carole and Seok for your positive comments.

I have an exactly similar drawing of my foot, the only differences being that I had just twisted my ankle and had a bag of ice resting on it! But enforced stillness is no problem when you have a sketchbook and pen... I like your drawings, and I try to do similar work quite often. However, at the moment I am working with an indelible pen mostly, so I can add colour afterwards. If I use my Artpen, as you often seem to, then it can end up polluting any colours I add later, when it runs into the wet.

Thanks Matthew. I love using water-soluble inks but after the drawing, I never add watercolour, only a wash with pure water. I know the ink changes the colour, so, if I want to colour the drawing, I use a non-watersoluble marker.

A quick sketch of my left foot using a Stabilo Point 88 watersoluble marker. Then I gave it a light wash here and there with a waterbrush. I didn't make a pencil drawing first but went straight into it with the marker. Thanks for having a look and maybe posting a comment.
