I like this picture very much. I can't give any "artist" appreciation, but I like your picture and the colour of the trees looks so natural.

A very nice painting with a lot going on. Looks like it's early spring. It really works. Love it. Jeannette

Good painting Mel. I wonder if it would have looked a little more dynamic if the darks were a little darker. Try looking at it through squinted eyes. The darks get darker, makeing the lights lighter and the whole painting becomes deeper. Fine work all the same mate.

Yes, I really like this too - and the Cirencester one - and your Grandma's Spring. Their overall pitch and design work - even if you are painting plein air, and faced with the seemingly impossible chaos of nature - it's your own sensibility and eye that untangles and makes sense of it on paper - as you prob know. One of the great Bitish semi unsung artists Edward Bawden used to get the same 'scratchy' feel to some of his nature painting n prints. Nice one - moreeee.

Escape through the tunnel or up the steps with the post marker ,excellent painting and good advice re darks.

Thank you so much for all the comments to date. I will now be painting through squinted eyes!!! it is really encouraging and motivating, thanks

A nice painting, but no shadows on path, path seems a little light

Great painting, love the feel of the place

I would think this was a hard subject to paint, with a lot of detail, but you have done it very well. Great.
