Hello and welcome Megan. Good idea to do your take on someone else's picture. I do it often.but don't know the work you used. This is good but needs more variation with the tones.

welcome to POL Megan. I have the book this is from and I think you have had a good stab at it as it is quite complicated. I've just had a look at the book and it's the steeple you have left out! Comparing the two, as Derek has said, the original has stronger tones but I recognised the scene straight away, so you must have done pretty well! LAook forward to seeing more of your work.

Thank you Derek for your comments and for welcoming me to the Gallery.. I shall certainly take on board your comments about tone in future. Hello Stephen. Thank you also, and yes you are right about the steeple. I don't know why I decided to leave it out. Perhaps I just prefer a square tower on a country church.

This is actually after a William Newton painting called "Sunday Morning" which I did some time ago. I bought a watercolour starter pack a couple of years ago with a William Newton booklet inside. When I saw this painting, giving an example of perspective, I thought one day I'll have a go at that. It's a fairly well-known painting, I think. I decided to leave something out. Does anyone know what it is? The size is 12" x 9". This is my first entry onto the Gallery, so Hello to anyone who's pick it out. I don't think the photo is very clear but I hope to improve.
