They look like aliens in those masks don't they. Went to a moving exhibition a few weeks ago in the local gallery, over 1600 young men died from just my little town. I was so most reduced you tears, thinking about it, very important not to forget.

just back from a trip to Ypres, visiting the battlefields so this seemed appropriate. Image cobbled together from various photos and painted in one 2 hour session yesterday morning. Oil on board, 10x12 inches

Matthew Sewell

Watercolourist since the 90's, and have just taken up oils a couple of years ago. I regularly paint en plein air with a local group called the Artful Dodgers, and aim to paint at least twice a week now I'm heading for retirement.
