sketch after Constable

A really good sketch Matthew taken from the original with a good understanding of the structure of the work. I am very interested in Constables life and work and a lot of his sketches were done on paper. He painted at least three finished versions of this scene. Well done.

I think you should add the water wheel then it would look great like his Matthew.

I like this very much Matthew although not familiar with the original. Love the areas where the under painting is showing through.

Not very good oil sketch on paper, A3 size, primed with gesso and a thin wash of burnt sienna, copied from 'Dedham lock and mill' in the V&A, after watching the presentation by Norfolk painting School. Fun to do but more difficult than I anticipated!
