Glad you like it. For years I struggled with pencil, always getting smudged and too easy to erase. Once I started with a pen, though, it was a commitment! No going back, no rubbing out, and it seems to work for me.

A pen and wash sketch of a small house on the Isle of Man, done as a preparatory sketch to a painting that has not materialised yet. I also used this as the image on some notelets that I gave to the owners of the house.

Matthew Sewell

Watercolourist since the 90's, and have just taken up oils a couple of years ago. I regularly paint en plein air with a local group called the Artful Dodgers, and aim to paint at least twice a week now I'm heading for retirement.
