Very atmospheric with that brooding sky.

Did you take anyone with you, or did you go alone to these locations Martin? I love your work!

Thank you Val! I like my dramatic skies!! James - thank you very much! I actually did this painting from a number of photos, but I prefer to work 'plein-air' if I can. Sometimes my wife comes with me, sometimes I am alone, but either way they don't take long to create, once I've established my viewpoint. 20 - 30 minutes is about average, any longer than that and they can start to be overworked and lose their freshness. Thanks again!

I guessed you may have gone to the location to either sketch or photograph, you are a very brave man Martin! That is not to say you had no part in the dramatic scary results in your painting!

The tiny Lincolnshire church of St Michael's is mainly Norman and early English. A Norman doorway leads into the narrow nave, where a 13th century chancel arch provides access to the tiny chancel. Pen and ink, ink wash.
