Wasn't going to log in this evening, but had to comment on this, one of your best paintings so far - excellent composition, perspective, and a very effective impression. An inspired touch to outline the gravestones in white, but not to worry about filling them in - works really well.

Thank you very much Robert - really appreciated!

The church of All Hallows in Great Mitton is situated on the slope of a steep hill running down to the river Ribble. The oldest surviving part of the church dates back to 1270. A curious hole in the outside wall of the church is a 'hagioscope' or 'Leper's Squint' - This allowed the sick to peep into the church and take part in the service without infecting the healthy! Pen and ink, ink wash with a bit of wax resist between the various ink layers, white gouache highlights. 14.5" x 10.5"
