Well done with the skin tones which can be a little tricky! As for the background I feel you may need to add a simple but fairly dark background probably a warm dark red/brown colour, especially due to the good skin tones. This will make Skunk stand out much more.

Agree with Paul a darker background will push your figure forward. A strong , emotional image.
