Gabi is a researcher and a film maker. She kept chickens as a child in Ireland where she grew up, before moving to London. Chicken keeping was one of the pulls of moving back to the countryside a few years ago. This painting was done in the summer of 2020, between lockdowns here in England. The hen Maud, a Copper Maran, is confidently self possessed and named after Yeats’s muse.
