Silver Birches and the South Downs, watercolour 16 x 47cm
Silver birches blowing in the wind with their autumn colours make a great subject. I painted this scene plein air then used the watercolour sketch as a reference for this painting. That is the South Downs in the background. It was a hazy afternoon and they were a warm violet blue.
