Nice to see you painting on location in your sketchbook as that is where all the best ideas for developing a painting come from. Really good idea to show sketch and photo of scene together, makes it interesting to see how other painters interpret the view in front of them.

Just looking back at this. The two figures in the photograph just happened to be there, I made them up in the painting. I sometimes wonder wether they chose to stop there after seeing me sketch.

A quick plein air sketch in my moleskine. The Ty Coch, best pub on a beach in the UK. It was a very cold afternoon with a fair breeze. When I finishedI took this pic on my iphone then legged it back to the car just as it started to rain.
