Excellent work Marjorie!

I ALWAYS LOVE YOUR STUFF AND THIS IS NO EXCEPTION MARJORIE

Thanks Michael and Dennis - there was an article in this month's "Artist" about doing a quick painting to " warm up" before the "real" stuff, it's good advice except today I had no more time other than to sit in the sun with a drink!( the alcoholic kind of course).

Lovely work Marjorie. Well done.

Being in the same art club as Marjorie, I watched as she painted. It was remarkable what she achieved in about 1.25hrs (with breaks for chatting and tea of course!) Amazing what can be achieved with a few everyday objects. Just shows you don't have to have special set ups to paint wonderful pieces.

Kitchen is an endless source for things to paint as you have just proved, Marjorie. Lovely shine on the spoons and dishes.

This is so skilful, Marjorie. And in an hour and a quarter!!!! Impressive!!!

My art tutor would absolutely love you Marjorie, all the shades and tones you get from white objects! Brilliant!!

This is lovely Marjorie - it has a glow to it and those reflections are lovely.

Many thanks everyone! And Fiona - what about your still lifes, are you still doing them?

Hi Marjorie, the tutored oil class has finished now until October. We do indoor, still life painting in the Autumn/winter and from April until this time of year we do outdoor/landscape painting. I still have three canvas' that need finishing, I just can't seem to go back to them.....any tips?lol I don't tend to do still life subjects by choice, although I do enjoy doing them as part of the class. I have a horrible feeling that Davy will change the subject this Autumn and concentrate on portraiture.....yikes!!!

Thanks Anne. Gudrun, I had to read it a couple of times! Fiona, I'm going to find this Davy and tell him to do.....portraits!

Nice little still life Marjorie love those shiny pots and spoons.

I absolutely love this! The fever with which you painted gives it a thrilling edge. Please may I ask what colour you used as a base?

Rebecca, I like to use a"red earth" base, a very thin turpsy wash which I allow to dry before I begin painting. This particular colour is called "Pozzuoli Earth", Maimeri Classico. Red earth or Titian Red would be very similar. I think any base colour helps to unify a painting where it shows through.

This is lovely, Marjorie..

Thankyou for comments, Rebecca, Heather and Carole.

Rebecca, I think I meant Indian red, not "Titian".

Hi Marjorie, great reflections as usual. Brill.

Super still life Marjorie.

Marjorie!! I didn't know you had a cruel streak!!lol

Beautiful painting, Marjorie, great reflections. Congratulations for having gained the top line.

I love how you transform everyday objects into such exquisite vignettes, Marjorie! This is so elegant, with wonderfully simple, clean lines and excellent brushwork. Brilliant work!

Thanks Peter, Stephen,Cesare, Seok and Helen!

Simply brilliant Marjorie !!
