Great painting Marion from another feline fan

Beautiful Marion, very well painted.

beautiful, just like my cat you can never be sure what its thinking. Fantastic fur

I think I know what cats think ..... a) food, b) let's have a nice kip with, perhaps, a bit of stroking, c) food, d) FOOD, e) time to kill something, f) food, g) time for another kip, h) food..... Still, this is a very appealing portrait of a horrid moggie. I'm a dog man, myself. And I kept rats. Much nicer in every way. But - I do like your painting. The rats wouldn't have done.

By the way, did you leave white paper around the eyes, or enhance them with white paint? If the former, (well, even if the latter!) it's worked very well.

Thanks to you all for kind comments. It's OK, Robert - I can be quite tolerant of 'non-catty' people - I know they can't help it!! With all my work I try to leave white paper for all white or highlighted areas, in this case for the fur and the light in the eyes. However, not being perfect, I have to do a little work with gouache, pencil or acrylic white at times! Tis one was predominantly the paper, with a little white pencil at the furry edge. Never felt keen to paint a rat though.

Lovely image Marion and i love how you show the fur by your use of the ink, really effective, great eyes as well, always good to see someone else who likes to use pets eyes in portraits to their best advantage

Addicted to felines as I am, this was great to paint! Those who can't take the catty stare look away now! Ink, pencil and watercolour in there somewhere!
