The starting point for this drawing was raw materials, in particular ‘water’ and the fashion industry. The fashion magazines provide the framework for readers with the latest styles, which determines how people think about clothes. A staggering 10,000 items of clothing is being sent to landfill equivalent to £140 million in value each year. The amount of raw materials used to produce the items that are going to waste too. For example it takes 1,800 gallons of water to make one pair of jeans.
