This is very stylish and like your palette and ink

Good topic Malcolm and nicly done.. There a view of the same in the mini gallery beside my comments etc.

Thanks, Maureen and Jim. I did look at your painting Jim- well done.

Another beauty Malcolm. If you've used a water soluble pen here, it wont be light fast but I'm sure you know that already. Unfortunately I didn't :)

Beautiful painting, Malcolm, good colours and atmosphere.

Very fine work, Malcolm.

Very effective and striking Malcolm. Love the palette and the washes. I actually like the bit of bleed on the post

Lovely atmospheric work Malcolm asDiana has said, the slight bleed on the post is not a problem.

Lovely atmosphere Malcolm,

An excellent piece, Malcolm. Love the composition, and the inky runs lend to the atmosphere and enhances the piece.

Thanks everyone for your comments- much appreciated. Louise, thanks for the tip about water-soluble ink not being light fast - I wasn't away of this and neither was the tutor when I saw him this morning.

I used a Berol pen for some work Malcolm and over time, my pen lines vanished. Possibly other makes of pen are light fast, but having seen what happened to my pen and wash, I wouldn't chance it again. Shame really as my pen and watercolour effects were pretty good (I say modestly!). Actually, I've just googled Stabilo water soluble liner pens to read that they are light fast so it was probably the make of pen that I used. Worth checking though before using!

Pen and wash workshop with SAA demonstrator Peter Robbins. I used graphite pen for the distance and quink fountain pen for the middle distance and foreground. I should have drawn the posts after the wash as they ran with the water but you learn from your mistakes.
