Old workings. pen and wash sketch

You have caught the scene, atmosphere and shapes very well Malcolm so I wouldn't think Fiona will mind

Much appreciated Derek thank you.

It's not a poor effort at all Malcolm, in fact, it's an excellent effort! The dip pen I find really does give such a lively line, it makes mistakes that add to the charm. I also love your palette....do some more, this is super!

I agree with Fiona - the foreground is very strong.

Thank you so much Fiona and Marjorie, that gives me the push to try more. Because of doing most pen and ink while on the hill, I became locked into the technical pens for ease, and you are right Fiona the dip pen does give you a more lively line.

You won't want to go back after this Malcolm....wait and see the difference it makes after you've done one or two.

Nice. nice sketch...you have caught the moment.

Thanks Sylvia appreciate that.

Having seen so many of Fionas wonderfull pen and wash works, it made me finally dig out my old dip pen instead of using technical pens. This sketch is of part of the remains of the sluice gates of the old little dams at the top of Coledale Beck in the Lakes, the water use to service the old Force Crag mine. It is a nice days walk up from Braithwaite to the head of the valley on to the tops with plenty of good painting and sketching opportunities. Appologies to Fiona for the poor effort.
