Very nice ink drawing Mike, using the matchstick makes us work simpler and gives good texture. I am always nervous when I add the washes, in case I spoil things!

I did a double take Mike when I saw your reference to summer...then saw where you lived. This is a beautifully observed drawing and will make a lovely painting. I have painted in Africa and used big sharp thorns for drawing Great fun .

This is lovely and serene and I it's only a preference, but I prefer this to the next one.

thanks to all. I agree with your comments Stephen about using the matchstick , I actually think it gives more options than a standard pen nib - more versatile , like having a pen and a brush in your hand at the same time. Often my sketches are just pen drawings with no colour added - which goes with your comments Gudrun. This is a "winter" drawing Sylvia , despite the full tree foliage (mainl) NZ trees are basically evergreens , introduced ones are deciduous so we have full tree foliage the year round. cheers to all , Mike C.

sharpened my matchstick for this one to complete my return to painting - and a return to work tomorrow after being off for the summer holidays - still waiting for summer to arrive this year.. Our ruins are never likely to out last those seen in the UK so it is a case of get them whilst you can. This is , obviously , the base drawing for the paint to arrive on.
