thanks to both. I count myself an Autumn person rather than a Spring one and hence do prefer this range of the spectrum. The New Zealand tree is primarily evergreen so we have foliage the year around. The introduced (exotic) species are the ones to change colour and lose their leaves . The North Island is predominantly green until the Autumn , the South Island a far wider range depending upon where you are. cheers Mike C.
