This is a wonderful drawing. Love the movement of the very shallow water and the double reflection, especially the pink reflection.

Really charming - small child, huge ocean; quite a thought and beautifully portrayed Lyn.

Wow that's a big painting for coloured pencil; must have taken you ages. Very well done with a great sense of space

Lovely drawing - so delicate and charming.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on the picture. It did take about eight weeks but I try to work on a couple of pieces at the same time in order to get a break from the process of a single painting. The shallows took some work to get that sense of clear water and sand ripples just right but the blue Fabriano ground was a great help. I'm glad you all think it worked out.

I agree with everyone, this is really beautiful Lyn, very well painted. Thank you very much for your lovely comment on my painting, I really appreciate it :)

The shallows are wonderful, a beautiful piece of work.

Derwent Artists Pencils on Fabriano Tiziano 160g Pastel Paper. 28X42cm. Just about my favourite paper. It just seems to ease the picture out of its surface and aids the artist at every step. I love to work with it. The subject of the small child at the edge of such a mighty expanse of sea and sky - look it up on the map and you'll see what I mean - offered the kind of story that was irresistible. It took some effort to remove extra 'stuff' from the beach but I think it was worth it.
