Originally intended as a self-portrait, the artwork became a canvass to explore various thoughts on the world. The image challenges the false ideal of innocence, that even a newborn child is immediately corrupted by the environment he enters. Whether through genetic inheritance or surrounding societal ills and restrictions, symbolised by the syringe and dead hand, no human is every truly pure.
